Here we are, in the midst of the holiday season . . . but also in the
midst of a serious economic downturn. Advent is a season of
expectation . . . but many of our hopes and expectations are having
to be revised or relinquished right now. Christmas is a season of
joy and celebration . . . but we might need to search our souls a
little harder this year for reason to celebrate.
We all know that we have much to be grateful for and plenty to
celebrate?most significantly, the birth of the Savior. But this
year we might need some help to keep all this in mind as we
struggle with financial anxieties. You can find some help with this
by going to "Tough Economic Times: Pastoral Perspectives," on
the web at www.ucc.org/stewardship.
You'll find brief reflections by UCC pastors and others, offering
"perspective" we all need this year. And who knows, this Advent
and Christmas season, while different, might turn out to be one
one of the best you've known.
